I’ve come across two more events I’d like to add to this evening’s roster. First off, the Long Island City Community Boathouse is having a benefit to support their wonderful free programs. They provide free kayaking, canoeing, and educational programs on the East River. Tonight’s benefit, at the Foundry, will include tunes by DJ Deputy Jeff and MC Travis, BONGO SURF with special guest Unsteady Freddie, gourmet Italian, Indian, and Thai food from Manducatis Rustica, Five Star Punjabi, and Tuk Tuk, desserts from Sage American Kitchen, wine donated by Wine and Spirits Magazine and Blue Streak Beer from Brooklyn Brewery. There will also be beach plum jam (?!) and a silent auction.

Also tonight, at Le Poisson Rouge, Squeak E. Clean and DJ Zegon of the production duo N.A.S.A.will be performing their three-dimensional, ever-shifting combination of Brazilian, American and African funk. Apparently Kanye West, David Byrne, Tom Waits, Santigold (previously known as Santogold), M.I.A., Chuck D, Lykke Li and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are all fans, so I expect this show is well worth checking out. To get an idea of their sound check out the new music video for “Money,” a song from their debut album “The Spirit of Apollo”:
Have a great Thursday and stay tuned for weekend events!
